about

All the tracks on this album are made either entirely or partly out of recordings of UK politicians, taken from Parliament TV, the BBC and other media sources, and chewed up, digested, or spat out. It's all grist to the mill.

Some of it becomes sarcastic cut-up audio-collage, some of it text to speech, some of it loops and drones, ( a perhaps appropriate fate for the utterances of many politicians), and some of it is surprisingly funky.

This was supposed to be out on Oct 31st, but we got an extension, ha.

This first version goes online on Nov 1st, the day after UK's non-exit from the EU - and we will feel free to add stuff to it over the next months, during the run-up to/ fall out from the election through to the eventual/ possible Brexit withdrawal/debacle - either in the sense of adding new tracks, or folding new material into existing tracks, as an evolving record of a political process, the natural deadline of which is either Brexit or the cancellation of it - at which point we stop.
Or we may just lose interest in it long before that and move on to something else (which is what I hope happens wuth Brexit).

At this point, then, this is probably not a finished record - even though what is here has been edited as one long listen, rather than a series of isolated tracks.

It's a 'record' of a different sort - a live documentation, a sort of creative reportage - a real-time keeping track of the blather emitted by Westminster and the constant TV and internet political background noise. We have no privileged or behind-the-scenes access to information - we are just processing the same stuff as you are, from the same media sources, with the same mix of horror, fascination, impatience and disinterest.

If any MP says anything particularly striking or stupid regarding Brexit over the next few months, (as seems quite likely), or we feel a sudden need to blow off a frustration with something or someone, or someone says to us '' hey, you should include this!'' we will probably include it.

Next spring, we intend to edit/publish a CD of best bits of the material thrown up by this process, but will leave the bandcamp version up as an ongoing chronological ''as it happened'' record of how we got there.

This is a journey into sound. There will be the usual wrong turns and dead ends, and regular pauses for refreshment. Who knows where we will end up?

cheers,
Andrew & Ruaridh.

ps, this is a follow up to our 2017 record, CBK robots, which chewed up the then Labour Party Leadership candidates into ''a litany of empty soundbites and machine-fed spin''. At least, that's what it said on the press release.
